Welcome to the ASL Open Journal - an inevitable adaptation to our changing worlds.
Just yesterday, we had a traditional website ready to launch. At 3am, reality hit. By 7am, we'd canceled the launch. Fifteen minutes later, this Open Journal was born.
We've kept much of our previous content (posts dated Aug 5, 2025 and earlier) plus our starter Playbooks. Fair warning - we have three nicknames: ASL, ASL Journal, and the Journal.
What You'll Find
Our entries focus on lived experience with:
Brain-first strategies for building resilience as we age
Becoming more adaptable to circumstances beyond our control - with grace and optimism
Finding joy in daily life, no matter the challenges
Expect:
Our experiences - the good and not-so-good
What we're learning - tried, trying, might try
Occasional epiphanies - now what?
Opinions - can't escape those
Questions - still seeking answers
Key Themes:
Let technology serve us, not manipulate us
Protect and nurture our brain for health and resilience
Don't go it alone - connect with real people (we're dog people!)
